Crab Varattiyathu - Malabar Style


Ingredients:

Crabs - 3 nos.
Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Coconut oil - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few



Method:

1)  Wash and cut the crabs.Marinate the crabs with chilli powder,turmeric powder,coriander powder,pepper powder and salt.Keep it for 30-45 mins.
2) Add sufficient water for cooking crabs.Cover and cook.Add curry leaves.Cook till the crabs is done and the gravy is fully dried.Finally add coconut oil and mix well.
3) Simple crab varattiyathu is ready.......

Semiya Payasam / Vermicelli Kheer



Ingredients:

Semiya / Vermicelli - 100 gm
Milk - 1 litre
Sugar - 3/4 cup( as needed)
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Cashew nuts -10 nos.
Raisins(unakka munthiri) - 15 nos.
Ghee - 2 tbsp

Method:

1) Heat 1 tbsp of ghee in a pan and roast the semiya/vermicelli till golden brown.

2) Boil milk in a thick bottomed pan, then add the roasted vermicelli and cook on low flame.


3) Then add sugar and cardamom powder.Stirring continuously.


4) Heat 1 tbsp  ghee in another pan, fry cashews and raisins.Add the fried cashews and raisins to payasam.Serve hot or cold.....
