Beetroot & Onion Thoran

Thoran is a popular side dish from South India.Beetroot & onion thoran is a healthy side dish for rice.Grated beetroots and onions are used to make this thoran.It is very colorful dish.



Ingredients:

Grated beetroot - 1 cup
Grated onion - 1/2 cup
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Green chilli - 2-3 nos.
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Salt - as needed
Oil

Method:

1) Mix together beetroot,onion,green chillies,turmeric powder and salt.Keep aside.
2) Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
3) Add curry leaves and beetroot-onion mixture.sprinkle around 1 tsp water ,stir well and cook on low flame.After 1 minutes add grated coconut and mix well.Cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
