Idli
Idli is a round shaped South Indian dish.It is a vegetarian dish.Usually rice flour is used to make idli.
Ingredients
Idli rice-2 cup
Urad dal-1 cup
Cooked rice-a fistful
Salt,water-as needed
Oil for greasing
Method
1)Wash rice,urad dal and soak them in enough water for 5 hours.
2)After 5 hours, drain the water and add the rice,urad dal and cooked rice in a wet grinder.
3)Grind this in to smooth batter adding a few tbps of water in between grinding,the batter should be light and fluffy.
4)Add salt and left it ferment in a enough bowl for about 7-8 hours in a warm place.
5)For making idlis,grease the idli plate with oil.Heat the idli pan with 2 cups of water and allow the water to boil.Pour batter to the greased idli plates and steam it for 7-8 minutes.
6)Serve it with sambar and coconut chutney.
