Erachi Pathiri(Chicken Stuffed pathiri)-Malabar Special
Erachi pathiri is one of the special dish from Malabar(Kerala).It is a deep fried chicken stuffed bread and then dipped in egg -sugar mixture and shallow fried again.It is a very tasty evening snack.Erachi pathiri is an unavoidable dish during Ramdan period.
Ingredients
For pathiris
Plain flour/Maida-1 1/2 cup
Wheat flour-1/2 cup
Salt-to taste
Oil-2 tbsp
Lukewarm water

For the filling
Boneless Chicken-250 gm
Onion-2 nos.(chopped)
Ginger paste-1 tsp
Garlic paste-1 tsp
Green chillies-2 nos.
Curry leaves-few(chopped)
Coriander leaves-few
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder-1 tsp
Pepper powder-1 tsp
Garam masala-1 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Salt
Oil-2 tbsp
Boneless Chicken-250 gm
Onion-2 nos.(chopped)
Ginger paste-1 tsp
Garlic paste-1 tsp
Green chillies-2 nos.
Curry leaves-few(chopped)
Coriander leaves-few
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder-1 tsp
Pepper powder-1 tsp
Garam masala-1 tsp
Coriander powder-1 tsp
Salt
Oil-2 tbsp
For coating and frying
Egg-2 nos.
Sugar-1 tsp
Oil-for deep frying

Method
For the filling
1) Cook the chicken with turmeric powder,pepper powder,salt then mince it.
2) Heat oil in a pan,add ginger,garlic paste and green chillies,saute for a minute.Add onion and salt ,saute it well.
3) Add all powders,curry leaves and coriander leaves then mix it well.
4) Finally add the minced chicken,mix well.Adjust salt.
For making pathiri
1) Mix together maida,wheat flour,salt,oil.Add water and make a soft dough and roll out pathiris of poori size.
2)Place some filling at the center of a pathiri ,place another rolled out pathiri over it.Gently press the edges together.
3) Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the stuffed pathiri until it turns golden brown.
4)In a bowl beat the eggs with sugar and pinch of salt.
5)Dip the fried pathiris in the eggs mixture and shallow fry it in a pan.serve hot.
