Kappa Biriyani/Tapioca Biriyani
Kappa (Tapioca) biriyani is a very tasty dish from Kerala.It is a combination of kappa(tapioca) and meat.You can make it with any meat of your choice.I used kappa with chicken.
Ingredients
Kappa/Tapioca - 1kg
Chicken-1/2 kg
Onions-3 nos.
Onions-3 nos.
Green chilli-3 nos.
Ginger(crushed)-1 tbsp
Garlic(crushed)-1 tbsp
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Chilli powder-2 tsp
Pepper powder-1 tsp
Garam masala-1 tsp
Meat masala-1/2 tsp
Curry leaves-2 sprigs
Salt-to tasteCoconut oil
Water
Method
1) Cook kappa(tapioca) with turmeric powder(1/2 tsp) ,salt and enough water.Drain the water completely.Mash it and keep aside.
2) Cook the chicken with turmeric powder and salt.
3)Heat oil in a pan add sliced onions,curry leaves,ginger,garlic and green chillies.Saute until it turns golden brown.Then add chilli powder,garam masala,meat masala and cooked chicken .Mix well.
4)Finally add mashed kappa(tapioca) and pepper powder.Adjust salt.Mix it well.Serve hot.
